[Power BI Service] How to find My Workspace URL (workspace ID)

I've been scratching my head trying to figure out the unique URL for My Workspace in Power BI Service.

According to the internet it used to be in the address bar in this format:
https://app.powerbi.com/groups/[workspace_id]/list

But all I ever see in the address bar now is this:
https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/list?experience=power-bi

🍀 What I've tried - which worked just once

✨ Dev tools (F12) → Local Storage

Open your workspace, go to developer tools or hit F12, go to Application, then expand Local Storage

Scroll all the way down to workspace_view_info and you should see a value for workspaceObjectId

Or you can also use the filter and type workspaceObjectId

There you go, that's your workspace ID.

To test, I plugged in the ID in the URL and true enough, it led to My Workspace. For good measure I switched up the ID and got an error message. So that checks.

But like I said it only worked once for me. I was excited to blog about it, but when I replicated the steps I couldn't find the longass unique ID looking value in local storage anymore. I only see "workspaceObjectId":"me" which isn't so unique.

So I gotta find another way.

Here's a workaround that's been consistently giving me the workspace ID so far.
And you don't have to dig in to dev tools...

✨ Open a semantic model and open My Workspace link under details

Go to your workspace and pull up any semantic model. There should be a My Workspace link under the details.

Open that link and it should give you the unique workspace URL in the address bar

If you don't have any semantic model, you can create one just for the sake of getting the URL.

Note: we don't know when they're gonna start hiding the workspace ID in this method so make sure to save the info once you got it.

Many thanks to this stack overflow answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/78827401 🎉

That's it! Hope this helps! 😄
